Hello Sam fans! We’ve got exciting news to share with you. Variety reported that Sam has joined the voice cast of The Red Shoes & The Severn Dwarfs! The movie is a modern retelling of the Snow White story with a twist. Sam will be playing Merlin, and this will be his first animation role! You can read the full report bellow.
Sam Clafin (“The Hunger Games”) and Patrick Warburton (“Mr Peabody & Sherman”) have joined the voice cast of big-budget indie animation “The Red Shoes & The Severn Dwarfs.” The film is a modern retelling of the Snow White story and sees seven vain and arrogant princes trapped in the bodies of the ugly dwarves.
Respectively, they play the roles of Merlin and the magic mirror. The pair join a cast that already includes Chloe Grace Moretz and Gina Gershon.
Directed by South Korea’s Hong Sungho and produced on a $20 million budget by Locus Corp., the film is in advanced post-production and set for delivery in Spring 2018. The film involves Kim Jin (“Big Hero 6,” “Frozen”) as character designer and supervisor.
Handled in international markets the film has been widely pre-sold by Korean sales house Finecut, which will be showing a new trailer during the American Film Market.
Buyers to date include including Lucky Red for Italy, Acme Film for the Baltic States, Blitz Film & Video for Ex-Yugoslavia and Albania, MVP for India, Gulf Film for the Middle East, Kino Swiat for Poland, Nos Lusomundo for Portugal and Fabula Medya for Turkey.
The film’s marketing campaign in Cannes caused a brief flurry of controversy when Moretz took exception to a billboard for the movie in Cannes, which showed two women — one tall and thin and the other shorter and heavier — with the words, “What if Snow White was no longer beautiful and the 7 dwarfs not so short?” The promotion was halted.
Finecut is also handling sales of Busan festival opening film “Glass Garden,” and Kim Ki-duk’s upcoming “Human, Space, Time and Human,” which is in post-production.
